What does the term sports car mean and moreover why are we so fascinated by them? Even people who claim sports cars are nothing more than expensive trinkets turn and stare when one drives past. Is it the curves of the body design, the distinct sound of the exhaust pipes, or the paradox of the whisper silent yet super powerful high revving engines? The truth is that , much like MUSCLE CARS , everyone has a their own reason for liking sports cars.

Since the development of motorized vehicles, there have always been individuals who wanted to combine tight handling with high speed. In combining these attributes, the sports cars was born. As new developments occurred in the early motor industry these designers, builders and drivers pushed the motor car to its limits on race tracks, in order to test its abilities against other manufacturers vehicles. These designers also began developing test vehicles purely for racing and, as a result, engines became more powerful, truly pushing these machines to new levels. These introductory races were the beginning of the sports car and fueled the next generation of  sports cars. After its release, the sports car gained popularity fast, due to its high speed relative to vehicles of its time. These sports cars were particularly adept at cornering, especially when  going downhill. In addition, the sports car was light, quite powerful, easily modifiable and balanced very well.

Sports cars helped to popularize the sport of drifting. To this day, sports cars are used in racing and in drifting competitions because of their fantastic cornering ability, handling, and power. Sports cars are highly regarded among their owners due to their capabilities. For this reason ,it seems sports cars will only continue to grow in popularity. Sports cars are very often featured in live events such as car shows, and in recorded events such as television shows, movies and even cartoons. Though the car is also famous for its distinctive two-seater look, sports cars are also available as coupes and saloons. Anyone who has ever driven or even taken a ride in a sports car will remember the car not only for its appealing design, but also for its high performance.
